New Youth Facility for Eastleigh

Local young people in Eastleigh could benefit from a new and exciting scheme to transform a town centre location into a youth facility subject to a planning application being approved. More information.

Eastleigh Town Access Plan (ETAP)

Council Staff ask members of the public for their ideas and priorities for transport improvements in central Eastleigh at the staffed exhibition held in the Swan Centre during the Spring 2009. The information gathered will help guide spending priorities and  inform Planning Strategy for the Town Centre

Swan Centre Leisure Scheme Comprising:

A nine screen cinema, operated by "Vue",

a 20 lane bowling facility, operated by AMF, Frankie and Benny's a family pizza restaurant (with a 1950's Italian/American style) and Nando's a family restaurant (with a spicy chicken theme).

The Point

The Point  –  Eastleigh`s Regional Centre for Art and Performance.  The construction of a new studio, and new studio theatre, public foyer and conference suite plus extended outdoor stage and new landscaping is well under way.

Reconstruction of Southampton Road – During 2008 Hampshire County Council  invested £1 million in the Highway infrastructure of the Town Centre rebuilding the roads and footpaths between the Twyford Road roundabout and Wide Lane.

Major Planning Applications

• Travis Perkins Site – Erection of 148 residential units, with associated car parking, open space, landscaping and highway works.  Outline approval subject to signing of legal agreement. 

• 35-37 Market Street – Rear extension, alterations to roof and shop fit out for national optician - work commenced on site.

• 3/4 storey contemporary corner block on Blenheim Road and Southampton Road, comprising 33 2 and 1 bedroom flats with underground car parking (completed in 2007)

• The Bridge Education Centre, Newtown Road - Hampshire County Council are currently refurbishing and extending this centrally located education and health facility. When completed the accommodation will be provided for 48  key stage 3 and 4 pupils and a suite of consulting rooms for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health service at an estimated cost of £2.3 million.

• A vision for Eastleigh Town Centre - A vision document for Eastleigh Town Centre is currently under discussion with Key stakeholders.

• A new Planning Framework - The Core Strategy will be published during the summer 2009 and will be subject to public consultation. It is expected that specific planning guidance for the town centre will also be produced.
