ENERGY Youth Festival

ENERGY

Thousands of local young people came along to the fourth ENERGY Youth festival’ formerly called ‘What can I do?’ event  held at Leigh Road Recreation Ground, Eastleigh on Saturday 25 September.

The event, which was free to attend, provided young people between the ages of 11-25 with lots of ideas for different activities and interests to get involved with in the borough.

The event, organised by Eastleigh Borough Council,  featured some 20 local organisations including Centrestage Productions, Girl Guides, Army Cadets, Jubilee Sailing Trust, The Point, Connexions, Scouts and the Senators Youth Band.   Organisations gave help and advice on a variety of issues including volunteering, sports clubs, military organisations, countryside conservation and health issues. There was also ‘live’ music from a number of local youth bands who performed  at the heart of the event on Eastleigh Bandstand.

Chair of Eastleigh Area Committee Cllr Chris Thomas says “The event again proved a great success and provided a great opportunity for young people to get involved in local activities or groups.  They can meet new people, improve their self confidence and get involved with activities in the community and looks good on your CV when applying for a job.”
